Social-Emotional Development and Intervention
About People Research Publications Teaching Getting Involved
I am a fifth year undergraduate student, pursuing a double major in psychology and human geography. My past experiences with children and my growing interest in social-emotional developmental research has led me to Dr. Malti and the SEDI lab. I am very interested in the social welfare of children. Within the developmental psychology field, I am very intrigued with social exclusion research. Combining this interest with core topics in human geography, I am interested in examining how different social situations or even the social factors of a place can affect the emotional development of a child. I also wish to explore the protective factors that may reduce the effects of social exclusion, as well as the coping mechanisms children develop when they find themselves in such situations/environments. As a research assistant, I look forward to interacting with children and families from different backgrounds. In addition, this position will provide me with the opportunity to gain important practical and technical research skills, such as testing, recruiting and data analysis. I am excited to be involved in Dr. Malti's lab and to work with my fellow lab members. I believe my experience in the SEDI lab, and the skills acquired while here will be rewarding and extremely valuable as I hope to pursue future studies in Clinical Child Psychology.
